Enneagram Type 1 Overview
The Enneagram 1 is called The Perfectionist. Your core desire is for things to be perfect. As a 1, you are organized, hard-working, responsible, moral, and principled.
Your core desire comes from the fear that you are the only one in the world who will uphold perfection. Breaking the rules and winging it is likely not in your vocabulary.
But depending on your wing, how you go about fulfilling this core desire of perfection will be different.
If you are a 1w2, you want to see perfection achieved in the external world whereas, if you are a 1w9, you want to see yourself be as perfect as can be.

Enneagram 1w9 vs 1w2 Comparison
In the enneagram, one wing is considered more “extraverted” and the other more “introverted” This doesn’t mean you have to be an introvert or extravert to be a certain wing, it just means you are going to have toward louder or quieter tendencies depending on which wing is dominant.
The enneagram says that the goal is to have balance in your wings but we disagree to some extent. Yes, you should have space in your life where you embrace each of your wings but it doesn’t matter if they are balanced. We believe that it’s extremely important that we know our dominant wing.
The reason for this is because your wing plays a big role in lifestyle and habits. By knowing your wing, you can know what kind of habits and what way of life will bring you peak happiness.
Especially for you, wonderful type 1! You know that your core desire is perfection and that your growth is to step into the playfulness of a 7, but do you know where in your life you want to achieve those things?

Enneagram 1w9
The biggest difference between the 1w9 and 1w2 is the 1w9’s core desire is for themselves to be perfect and harmonious versus if you’re a 1w2, you care more about society being perfect and you’re a little bit more about serving others.
The 1w9 is going to be the more introverted wing and they take on the appearance of the peacemaker, meaning that they seem calmer, more soft-spoken, quieter, and more peaceful.
So you care more about your environment being organized and harmonious, that you live up to your values and morals, and you are going to be drawn towards spending time by yourself.
If you are a 1w9, you must be scheduling time to be by yourself, in nature, in your home, and especially at work. You prefer to work in solitude. That is not to say you don’t need people whatsoever, type ones, this means that having closer one-on-one connections with others is more important to you than having a large social group.
Enneagram 1w2
Like I said earlier, the 1w9’s core desire is for themselves to be perfect and the 1w2s is more for society to be perfect. The 1w2 LOVES being the leaders of organizations. It is their greatest strength and highest calling.
The 1w2 is the more extroverted wing and they take on the appearance of the helper, meaning that they seem eager to lend a hand, are intent listeners, and enjoy being social.
As a 1 wing 2, you care more about organizing events, creating organizations, leading movements, and helping others with your organizational skills and vision for perfection.
Type 1w2s prefer to have a variety of connections and lots of people in their social group so you must be scheduling time to be around others without pressure to be the organizer of the group. Plan a coffee date, go to a cooking class, and work in an environment that surrounds you with like-minded people.
Noticing Your Wing Throughout Your Day
Throughout your day, practice noticing when you’re embracing your 9 wings and when you’re embracing your 2 wings.
Do you feel better in your soul when you are organizing events for other people, being social, and helping people through your organizational skills, or do you feel better when you are more on your own, organizing your environment, staying in harmony, and making time to just be by yourself in a harmonious, organized environment?
